SCARBOROUGH — Judith Elaine Siminski Shirk, 71, died Aug. 29 at her Pine Point home after an illness of several months.

Shirk was born May 9, 1944, the daughter of Michael and Catherine (Googins) Siminski. Judith graduated from Scarborough High School in 1962. She continued her education and earned a degree in cosmetology.

Shirk loved styling her customers’ hair, a business she pursued in her home. She greatly enjoyed the close relationships with her clientele.

After her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and operating real estate in Pine Point.

Known for her wit and caring spirit, Shirk was active in local politics and served on several town committees. In addition, she served as grand marshal of the Pine Point Fourth of July Parade, and was one of the founders of the event. She also was an avid fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Jeanne Davis.

She is survived by her brother, Michael, of Scarborough; her brother, Stanley, of New York; her sisters, Dianne McLellan, of Scarborough, and Bette Dion, of Florida; an aunt, Gloria; her special friends, Shirley Smith and Don Cote; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral was held Aug. 31 at Blue Point Congregational Church, Scarborough. Interment followed at Scarborough Memorial Cemetery.

The family extend special thanks to the staff at the Visiting Nurse Association, especially Marla Shellie.
