FREEPORT — A judgment against L.L. Bean in a dispute with Worcester Wreaths was reduced last week by a justice in the Maine Business and Consumer Court.
Justice Andrew M. Horton ruled the retailer had already paid more than $304,000 to the Washington County wreath maker for items bought in 2008 and subtracted the amount from the $960,000 judgment awarded to Worcester in February.
Horton ruled against L.L. Bean in three additional counterclaims regarding breach of contract, unpaid royalties and double-billed shipping charges. The dispute between the companies dates to 2008 when plummeting sales caused the retailer to ask the manufacturer to stop making products it had previously ordered.
