ORLANDO, Fla. — Josephine M. Bernier, 95, a former Brunswick resident, died Jan. 17 at Savannah Courts in Oviedo, Fla.

She was born in Topsham on Oct. 7, 1915, and was the daughter of Thomas and Leah Fournier Powers.

She attended Brunswick schools and in 1946 married Adrian Bernier, who passed away on Valentine’s Day in 2004 after 58 years of marriage. She was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. Her family was the most important part of her life. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and was well-known for her clam chowder and salmon pies.

After her husband’s death in 2004, Bernier moved to Orlando, Fla., to be closer to her children.

She was predeceased by her husband, Adrian; grandson, Randy Morency; sister, Sally Powers Wainrib; brother, George Powers; and daughter-in-law, Martha Bernier.

She is survived by her daughter Marie Morency of Orlando, Fla.; son Robert A. Bernier of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Barbara, Bonnie and Rick Morency, all of Orlando, Fla., Brenda Owens of Calera, Ala., Tonya Coles of Indianapolis, Ind., LeDon Watkins of Chesapeake, Va., and Anthony Watkins of Orlando, Fla.; 10 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and “second” son, Paul Thibeault of Cundy’s Harbor.

The family wishes to express their thanks to all those who have cared for Bernier over the past few years.

There will be no funeral services. Interment will take place at a later date at Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
