FALMOUTH — Joseph R. Finocchietti, 70, died at his home on Feb. 8.

He was born in Poland Springs on June 28, 1941, and was the son of Giuseppe and Eleanor Finocchietti.

Finocchietti grew up in Gray and graduated from the Pennell Institute. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He married Elizabeth McCurdy in 1966 and they made their home in Falmouth, where they raised their two children. He worked many jobs and retired from Jordan’s Meats where he was a truck driver. He enjoyed hunting fishing and was an avid gardener, always planning and growing a large garden. He also enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren, Hannah, Emma and Matthew.

Finocchietti is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth; son Michael of Falmouth; daughter Karen and her husband, Dan Casale, and their children Hannah, Emma and Matthew; sister Mary and her husband, John Lyden, of South Carolina; brothers, David of Gray and Johnny and his wife, Joanne, of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

His family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for Finocchietti during his stay at Mercy Hospital, the Visiting Nurses Association hospice nurses and aids who made his time at home more comfortable, and the Falmouth emergency medical technicians.

Private services will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to VNA Home Health & Hospice, 50 Foden Road, South Portland, ME 04106.
