BRUNSWICK — Joseph Louis Bergeron, 79, died March 20 at his home.

He was born in Brunswick, Oct. 16, 1929, the oldest of ten children to Edgar and Florence (Deforge) Bergeron. He attended St. John’s Parochial School and later enlisted in the National Guard.

After serving, he married Geraldine Grey and they had three children, Joseph Louis Bergeron Jr., Barbara Jean and Susan Adeline.

After their divorce, he meet and married Beatrice Iona Hurd.  They had two children together, Catherine Bergeron Tetrault and Nancy Bergeron Farr.

After the death of his second wife in 1981, he married Suzanne Bolduc Littlefield and they spent 27 years together.

He worked in Freeport shoe shops and as an auto mechanic, which was also his favorite hobby.

His other hobbies included fishing, camping and wood working projects.

He was a member of the American Legion and served as commander of the American Legion in Freeport.

He is survived by his wife Suzanne; children, Joseph Louis Bergeron Jr., Barbara Jean, Susan Adeline, Catherine Bergeron Tetrault and Nancy Bergeron Farr; step daughters, Amy Littlefield and Kelly Littlefield; brothers, Edgar Bergeron Jr., and Ernest Bergeron, sisters Suzanne Snavely, Pricilla Dumont, Lydia Hicks, Simone Dehahn, Lucille Hughes Coffill; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother Roland Bergeron and sister Lorraine Dehahn.

Memorial services were held last week.
