BRUNSWICK — Jon M. Dunning, 68, died May 6 in Hudson, Fla.

Born in Portsmouth, N.H., June 13, 1941, the son of Elmer and Dorothy Tinker Dunning, he attended Brunswick schools. 

For more than eight years he served in the U.S. Army, including two tours in Vietnam.

On Aug. 28, 1994, he married Judy Hayes Murphy in Brunswick.

For 20 years he drove for Maine Line Tours before owning and operating a tractor-trailer for 18 years.

Since 1990 he owned and managed the Tourist Inn on Pleasant Street in Brunswick with his wife.

He was a member of Kora Temple Shrine, Brunswick Lodge of Elks, American Legion Post 202 Topsham, Disabled American Veterans and Electra Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

He is survived by his wife Judy of Brunswick; three daughters, Frances Dunning and her husband Mark Pohl Of New York, Mary Dunning, and Jacquelinena Dunning, both of California; two stepchildren, Michael Murphy of Cundy’s Harbor and Shelley Murphy of Brunswick; a sister, Kay Dunning, of California; a grandson, Nicki Roberts; four step-grandchildren, Emily, Corey, Brianna and Kelley; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held earlier this week.

Arrangements are by Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
