HARPSWELL — John L. Mace, 82, died June 21 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

He was born in Springfield, Mass., Oct. 17, 1926, the son of Dr. Roswell Greenwood and Elizabeth (Trask) Mace. 

In 1947, he graduated from Bowdoin College.

He married Elizabeth Norris in Milwaukee, Wis., in 1950.

A proud Bowdoin alumnus, he enjoyed conducting mock executive interviews for graduating seniors in his retirement.

He loved Maine, Montana, fly fishing, his friends and family.

Surviving are his wife Elizabeth; two sons, John Mace, Jr. and his wife Nancy Plunkett of Hinesburg, Vt., and Stephen Mace and his wife, Karen of Georgetown; a daughter, Cynthia Mace of New York; a sister, Luanne Crosby and her husband, Robert of Jacksonville, Vt. and their children Diane, Robert Jr., and Peter, their wives Abigail and Jan; grandnieces Tate and Nell; and his grandson, Schuyler Garvin Mace of Georgetown.

A private burial in the All Saints Memorial Garden on Orr’s Island and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
