FREEPORT — Joanna A. Lemont, 74, died March 21 at her home surrounded by family.

Born in Bath on Oct. 11, 1935, she was the daughter of Albert and Caroline Small Larrabee. After graduating from Brunswick High School in 1953, she attended Gorham State Teacher’s College.

On May 10, 1968, she married Charles M. Lemont Jr.

She was an expert seamstress, sewing the Freeport Marching Band uniforms for many years and items for weddings.

A devoted mother, she took great pride in raising her family and making sure her children had everything they needed.

Her interests included stamp collecting, gardening and camping, especially at Pemaquid, Damariscotta Lake and Mt. Blue.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 202 in Topsham.

She was predeceased by her husband Charles of 38 years on Jan. 26, 2007.

Surviving are three daughters, Teresa Hayward and her husband Bradley of Freeport, Lisa Roye and her husband Rick of Monroe, Caroline “Kate” Lemont and her companion Mark Merrill of Brunswick, and a son, Albert Lemont and his wife Kimberly of Frankfort; three stepsons, John “Jack” Lemont and his wife Virginia of Brunswick, Donald Lemont and his wife Patricia, of Brunswick, Robert Lemont of Topsham, and a stepdaughter, Gail Bartels of Waterville; a sister, Carolyn Neidt and her husband Albert of Norway; 27 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours were held Wednesday at Stetson’s Funeral Home in Brunswick. A funeral service was scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
