TOPSHAM — Joan Elinor Wilson Laskey Hoppe, 85, of Topsham, died June 17 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, following a brief illness.

She was born April 12, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of Floyd and Gladys Wilson. She attended Bunganuc Rural School, graduated from Brunswick High School and Maine General School of Nursing in Portland. She worked as a registered nurse in the Bath-Brunswick area for many years.

In 1950, she married Frederick B. Laskey. He predeceased her in 1956.

She lived most of her life in the family homestead at Bunganuc, enjoying her family and friends at her home. She enjoyed travelling, gardening and spending time reading. She was active in town affairs, serving on numerous committees, with long terms on the Brunswick Conservation Commission, Growstown School Committee and the Town Commons Planning Committee.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband; daughter, Amanda Jill Clamors; and grandson, James Malis.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela, and husband, Stephen Brooks, Bethany Malis, of Brunswick and Cheryl, and husband, Arnold Young, of Bath; son-in-law, John Clamors, of Topsham with whom she made her home; sister, Carol, and husband, John Powell; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on July 19 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. Interment will follow in the family lot in Growstown Cemetery, Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to the charity of your choice.
