PORTLAND — Jewish Family Services has become the first Maine pantry to join the National Diaper Bank Network.

Jewish Family Services is the social services arm of the Jewish Community Alliance of Southern Maine. The JFS Food Pantry focuses on the needs of young families and children, and has seen a steady increase in the need for diapers and baby essentials other than food, according to a press release.

By joining the National Diaper Bank Network, JFS has the opportunity to buy diapers in bulk at a reduced rate to distribute to its own consumer base, as well as other local pantries in need of similar items. All diapers are provided free of charge.
