FREEPORT — After her long, courageous battle with cancer, Jeanette A. Marquis, 76, died May 13 surrounded by her children, which she considered her greatest gifts in life.

For 26 years she worked at L.L. Bean until her retirement.

After she retired, she enjoyed many outdoor activities, such as camping, snowmobiling with her family, and riding motorcycles with her longtime companion of 15 years, Richard “Dick” Currier of Freeport.

She was an active member of the Freeport Elders Association.

Throughout her life her hard work, courage and loyalty was exemplary, and she had a great sense of humor, always ready with a smile or a joke.

Surviving are her four children, three sons, William R. Marquis and wife Nancy of Freeport, Steven E. Marquis and wife Deborah of Portland, Bradley H. Marquis and wife Doris of Bowdoin, and daughter Brooke (Joyce) Marquis of Delray Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service for the family will be held.

A celebration of her life will be scheduled later this summer.
