FREEPORT — Jean B. Leonberger, 93, of Yarmouth, died July 26 in Freeport.

On March 10, 1916, she was born in Washington, D.C., a daughter of Margaret (Ritchie) and Nevell Buckingham.

She attended local schools and graduated from Wilson Teachers College.

During World War II, she worked for the U.S. Weather Bureau, and later taught first grade and preschool. 

She was a lifetime member of Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Albert B. Leonberger Jr.

Surviving her are daughter Meredith Janarelli and her husband Bernard of Yarmouth; three grandchildren, Leslie Janarelli Norton and her husband Jeremy of North New Portland, Melanie Janarelli of Portland, and Peter Janarelli of Orono.

A memorial service will be held at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church, 1 Chevy Chase Circle, Washington, D.C. at 2 p.m., Aug. 19.
