SOUTH PORTLAND — Jason Allen Frank, 27, died unexpectedly March 9 at Maine Medical Center, while home on military leave.

He was born on Dec. 3, 1986, in Portland a son of Donald P. Frank and Danette J. Dennison. He was a 2006 graduate of South Portland High School.

Spc. Frank was currently serving with the U.S. Army 7th Special Forces Group, and was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. He had previously been stationed at Ft. Bragg, N.C., Ft. Jackson, S.C., and Ft. Lee, Va. He served seven months with the Special Forces in Afghanistan.

He married Melinda J. Reynolds Oct. 6, 2008. He was proud of his two children and will be remembered as a caring and loving father.

He enjoyed music and had a talent for drawing and was an excellent cook.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda J. Frank, of South Portland; two daughters, Payton L. Frank and Hailee M. Frank, both of South Portland; mother, Dannette Langley, of South Portland; father, Donald P. Frank, of Mapleton; sister, Antinette Frank, of South Portland; two brothers, Duayne D. Frank, of New Gloucester, and Christopher L. Frank, of South Portland; maternal grandparents, Duayne and Sandra Dennison, of South Portland; paternal grandmother, Betty Frank-Oatley and husband, Warren, of Florida; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held at Conroy-Tully Crawford, South Portland. A funeral service with military rites was held at Holy Cross Church, South Portland. A private burial held at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
