BRUNSWICK — Jane V. Yacano, 83, died at her home Feb. 19 from cancer.

Born April 1, 1927, she grew up in Lewiston, the eldest of five children of Albert and Yvette Cloutier Pinard of Lewiston.

Her career as a stitcher in leather goods spanned most of her adult life, and she was proud to have worked her way up to foreman at Auerbach Shoe Co. in Brunswick.

During World War II she briefly worked as a welder at Bath Iron Works.

In addition to working full-time, she raised five children and cared for her mother.

She retired at age 58 to spend more time with her husband, John Yacano.

Her hobbies included drawing, music, and dancing.

A hard-working and selfless person, her life was dedicated to her family, whom she dearly loved.

Her husband, John, predeceased her in June 2000.

Surviving are her five children, Janet Jones and her husband David, Diana O’Donnell and her husband James, Jo-Ann Campbell and her husband Lawrence, Debra Anderson and her husband David, and Frank Yacano and his wife Kathy; 13 grandchildren, James and Joshua O’Donnell, Melany Mondello, Geoffrey, Mathew, and David Campbell, Molly and Sean Anderson, Jessica, Jacob, and Daneel Dafni, and John and Joseph Yacano.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St Charles Church, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick on Saturday, Feb., 26, at 1 p.m.. An open reception will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the Stetson Funeral Home Reception Center, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.
