BRUNSWICK — Jane Murchie LaCroix Jackson, 66, died May 15 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

She was born in St. John, New Brunswick, on Aug. 15, 1945, to Louis Joseph and Harriett H. Horton LaCroix. She attended school in Calais and graduated from Calais High School in 1963. She later graduated from the University of Maine at Machias with a bachelor’s degree in education.

Jackson taught for brief stints in Houlton and Old Town before settling in to teach for 10 years in Calais. She retired in 1980.

In 1981 she moved to Brunswick, where she was employed by Senter’s Department Store and Olan Mills Photo Studio.

She enjoyed painting, photographing wild flowers and writing short stories.

Jackson was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Palacios.

She is survived by nephews, Edward Palacios and Peter Palacios; and one great nephew.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the Calais Cemetery.
