PORTLAND — James F. Bogart Sr., 85, of Portland, died Nov. 20. 

Bogart was born on March 9, 1927 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of John and Helen Bogart. He attended Brooklyn schools and shortly after enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served during World War II, and the Korean War, and was honorably discharged with the rank of master sergeant. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after many years of service.

Bogart enjoyed building model planes and boats. He loved to visit family and friends in New York and Georgia. 

Predeceasing Bogart was his wife, Thelma M. Bogart, in 2011.

Surviving are two sons, John and his wife, Margaret, of Saco, and James Jr. and his wife, Candace, of South Portland; two daughters, JoAnn Brann and her husband, D. Andrew, of Coplin Plantation, and Kathy Booth and her husband, David, of Portland; a brother, Calvin Bogart, of New York; 10 grandchildren, Christy, Beth, Becky, David Jr., Andrew, Susan, Jamie, Lindsay, John Jr. and April; and 10 great-grandchildren.

There was a funeral service Nov. 24 at the Jones, Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home in Portland.
