SOUTH PORTLAND — Irene M. (Chabot) Dorr, 89, died peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on Nov. 6 surrounded by her family.

On Aug. 14, 1920, she was born in Gorham, N.H., one of 13 children of Felix and Laura (Martel) Chabot.

In 1939 she graduated from Gorham High School and attended beauty school. She worked as a beautician in the Portland and South Portland area for many years. After retiring, she continued to do hair for shut-ins and the disabled.

She loved children and worked in day care centers for many years. Her last job was at the Maine Mall Food Court, retiring for a second time when she turned 80.

Her hobbies included knitting, playing beano, gardening and fishing. She was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed bowling in a league until she was 85.

Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a compassionate, gentle heart, loved unconditionally and will be missed.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence Chabot and Roland Chabot and her sisters, Lucy Thorne Oleson, Eva Hatch, Dorothy McDougal and Oliviene Aubin.

Surviving are her three children, Rodney C. Dorr and his wife Phyllis of Claremont, N.H., Richard F. Dorr Jr., and his wife Sandra of Saco, and Linda G. Desrochers of Gorham; six grandchildren, April Livermore, Rodney Dorr Jr., Angela Preston, Lisa Dorr, Shelly Kunz and Angela Fecteau; and eight great-grandchildren, Monika, Danielle, Tori, Justin, Alexis, Matthew, Michael and Shannon.

Funeral services were held earlier this week.
