PORTLAND – Motorists travelling the Casco Bay Bridge can expect some delays through Friday as the Department of Transportation and a team of engineers conduct a four-day inspection of the heavily traveled draw bridge.
The inspection requires several openings of the bridge. DOT spokesman Mark Latti said in a press release the openings would not take long and that crews would perform several tasks with each opening. The openings will be similar to regularly scheduled maintenance openings, which have little impact on traffic, he said.
Traffic gates and barriers, light and heating systems, communication devices, machinery operations, motor drives and control systems are among the functions scheduled for inspection.
