FREEPORT — Inez Mabel Davis, 101, died June 27.

She was born on January 6, 1911, in Auburn, a daughter of Susan Mae (Abbot) and Edward Lewis Lothrop. 

She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1929. Davis worked as a clerk in several stores in Auburn and Lewiston before working in an insurance company.

She married William Shirley Davis, of Freeport in June 1932 and they had two sons. Bill was born in 1933 and Gary was born in 1944. They moved to Freeport in 1935. While there, she worked for Eastland Shoe as a shoemaker.

Davis liked taking care of her family, their home and enjoyed keeping her yard neat and tidy. She was always ready to help if she knew someone was in need. 

Davis is survived by her 98 year old sister, Mildred, of Freeport and her nephew Linwood Lothrop, of Choctaw, Okla. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her three brothers Edward, Gus and Albert; and her two sons Bill and Gary.

A celebration of her life and visitation were held July 2. Private interment occurred in Burr Cemetery in Freeport.
