SCARBOROUGH — School Board member Jane Wiseman on Friday withdrew from the Nov. 6 ballot, leaving the election uncontested.

Wiseman, who is chairwoman of the board’s Policy Committee, turned in nomination papers to seek a third term Wednesday.

On Friday she said a new business venture and a need for more family time are the reasons for her decision to withdraw.

Scarborough Town Clerk Yolande Justice said Wiseman on Friday asked that her name be removed from the ballot.

“I have truly enjoyed serving on the board and will continue to support the educational values in Scarborough,” Wiseman said in an email Friday.

Her decision leaves the election for three School Board seats, each for a term of three years, to Donna Beeley, Christopher Caiazzo and incumbent Jacquelyn Perry.
