Traffic on Route 26/100 in Falmouth, near the Portland city line, was interrupted last week while an 85-foot I-beam was unloaded at the Falmouth Railroad Bridge. The 834-foot bridge, left, which crosses the Presumpscot River and a portion of the Pan Am rail line, was built in 1932 and is being replaced. Construction of the new bridge is expected to be completed by this fall. Crews will then dismantle and remove the existing bridge. CPM Constructors of Freeport is the contractor for the $10.5 million project.
