Bowdoin College freshman Mariya Ilyas, of Virginia, anchors the human chain Tuesday that delivered 1,200 cans of food from the college to the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program in Brunswick. College students and staff, public school students and members of the community participated in the project intended to symbolize the 1,200 calories a day a person needs to prevent hunger.Fifth-grade students from Brunswick’s Coffin School move the food along Station Avenue on Tuesday. Grocery carts were used to ferry the cans across intersections.
