PORTLAND — Portland Housing Authority residents will have more opportunities for education and job skill training after a $71,400 grant from the federal Housing and Urban Development Department.

The grant was announced Monday by U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and independent U.S. Sen. Angus King. The grant is part of a larger HUD Family Self-Sufficiency Program award of almost $402,000 to housing agencies throughout the state.
