BRUNSWICK — Howard L. Williams Jr., 91, died at Mid Coast Medical Center on May 1.

He was born in Brunswick, Nov. 10, 1922, son of Howard L. and Mary Manwaring Williams and attended Brunswick schools.

He married Mabel Copp on Aug. 17, 1940. Williams served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a woodsman and later worked at Bath Iron Works, retiring after 34 years in 1985. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years; a son, David; seven brothers, Gil, Sterling, Russell, Richard, James, Kenneth and Donald; and two sisters, Evangline and Julia.

He is survived by a son, Ronald; two daughters, Carol and husband, Raymond Bisson, and Deanna and husband, Norman Thibeault; six grandchildren, Richard, David, and Gary Thibeault and Robert, Michael and Nathan Bisson; nine great-grandchildren, Richard, Tiffany, Amanda, Ericka, Whitney and Kourtney Thibeault and Haley, Jake and Cameron Bisson; four great-great-grandchildren, Sophie, Priscilla, Emma and Holly; three sisters-in-law, Laverne Williams, Margaret Austin and Josephine Bell; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors was held May 7 at Varney Cemetery, Brunswick.
