Norm Steele, a master gardener and Scott Gardener of the Year, explains the process of proper composting to visitors during the Backyard Locavore Tour offered by the Univeristy of Maine Cooperative Extension on Aug. 8. Steele opened his Cumberland garden to the public with guided tours and shared some of his best gardening tips. Steele also donated about a 1,000 pounds of home-grown produce to food shelters last year.
