PORTLAND — Area housing authorities will share in almost half the $5.4 million in U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funding awarded to Maine agencies Feb. 12.
According to a HUD press release, the money is part of the the department’s Capital Fund Program, which helps “build, repair, renovate and/or modernize the public housing” in communities.
Grants include $1.46 million to the Portland Housing Authority, $391,000 to the South Portland Housing Authority, $231,000 to the Brunswick Housing Authority and $120,000 to the Bath Housing Authority.
