FREEPORT — Horace Philbrick “Phil” Rowe, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 6 at his home in Freeport after a lengthy illness.

On Feb. 20, 1931, he was born in Freeport, a son of Grace (Williams) Rowe and Horace Philbrick Rowe, Sr.

He attended Freeport High School and the University of Maine, Orono.

During the Korean Conflict he served four years in the U.S. Air Force.

He worked at the Freeport Post Office until he retired in 1991.

Over the years he was a member of the Freeport Planning Board, Freeport Fire Department and the American Legion Post 83.

He and his wife enjoyed spending winters at their home in St. Cloud, Fla.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn; two sons, Kenneth Rowe and his wife Lisa of Tega Cay, S.C., and William Rowe of Freeport; brother Earle Rowe of Mt. Vernon; grandson William Rowe, Jr., and his mother Annemarie Folan of Portland; granddaughter Lindsey Rowe of Tega Cay, S.C.; great-granddaughter Meadow; his aunt Audrey of Columbia, Md; one niece and two nephews; several cousins; dear friends Paul and Phyllis Roy of Brunswick; and his beloved Bichon dog, Sami.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
