It was an all-star season on the hardwood this winter.

The Yarmouth boys made history by winning the Class B state championship, two other local squads reached the regional final round and players from all local schools were named to the Western Maine Conference postseason all-star team.

The WMC Class B first team included Yarmouth senior state game hero Josh Britten (the leading scorer in the league with a 21.8 per game average and first in steals with 4.3) and senior Matt Packard (sixth in scoring, 15.3, and second in assists, 5.1) of conference champion Falmouth. They were joined by Wells’ Jake Moody and Liam Langaas and Aaron Todd of York.

Falmouth senior Jack Cooleen (third in rebounding with 10.1 per contest) and Greely senior Liam Maker and sophomore Michael McDevitt joined Cape Elizabeth’s Henry Babcock and Poland’s Logan Nichols on the second team.

Yarmouth senior Chris Knaub was named to the third team, along with Fryeburg’s Bright Amoako, Lake Region’s Alex Hartford, Poland’s Ricky Bryant and Jacob Littlefield and Wells’ Dylan Stevens.

In Class C, North Yarmouth Academy’s Asad Dahia (second in scoring, 19.3 and second in steals, 3.4) made the first team. He was joined by Old Orchard Beach’s Quincy Grace, Traip’s Matt Clifford and Mitch Newlin and Serge Nyirikamba of Waynflete.

Falmouth’s Cooleen, Packard and Alex Cattell, Freeport’s Mitch Loeman, Greely’s Maker, NYA’s Dahia and Yarmouth’s Britten and Knaub were named Senior All-Stars. Falmouth’s Dave Halligan coached.

Britten had 15 points, Knaub eight and Loeman seven to help “Team Henry” defeat “Team Halligan,” 105-93. Cooleen had 17 points, Dahia and Packard 14 apiece, Cattell 11 and Maker five in defeat.

Britten won the Bob Butler Award.

Falmouth’s Matt Kingry, Jeremy Lydick, Ryan MacDonald and Packard, Freeport’s Josh Weirich, NYA’s Ben Randall and Yarmouth’s Knaub and Sam Torres qualified for the All-Academic team.

Britten played for the Class A/B West team at the Maine McDonald’s All-Star Game and scored 22 points, including four 3-pointers, to help lead the way to a 113-103 triumph. Packard also was on the team.

Greely’s Nick Clark was the South Region foul champion.

Britten was also a semifinalist for Mr. Maine Basketball. That award ultimately went to Christian McCue of Hampden Academy.

On the girls’ side, the WMC Class B first team featured Freeport sophomore Nina Davenport (second in scoring at 17.7 per game), Greely junior Jackie Storey and Yarmouth senior Morgan Cahill (third in scoring, 16.9). They were joined by Lake Region’s Tiana-Jo Carter and Wells’ Alison Furness.

Falmouth freshman Ally Hickey and Greely freshman Ashley Storey both made the second team, along with Fryeburg’s Maggie McConkey, Lake Region’s Sydney Hancock and York’s Andrea Mountford.

Freeport junior Leigh Wyman (who led the league in steals, 5.6) was named to the third team, along with Fryeburg’s Skye Dole, Gray New-Gloucester’s Maria Valente, Lake Region’s Kelsey Winslow, Poland’s Emily Bolduc and York’s Emily Campbell.

In Class C, the first team included NYA senior Morgan Scully. She was joined by Old Orchard Beach’s Christina Colman, Traip’s Selena Lorrey and Katherine Volpe and Waynflete’s Martha Veroneau.

NYA sophomore Charlotte Esancy was on the second team, along with Old Orchard Beach’s Anna Foss and Mackenzie Rague, Traip’s Allie Barrett and Waynflete’s Rhiannan Jackson and Catherine Veroneau.

Falmouth’s Jackie Doyle and Laney Evers, Freeport’s Alex Mitch, Greely’s Caroline Hamilton and Haylee Munson and Yarmouth’s Cahill were named Senior All-Stars.

Evers had 18 points, Cahill 10, Doyle eight and Hamilton and Munson four apiece in “Team Marquis”” 79-55 win over “Team True,” which got two points from Mitch.

Falmouth’s Ashleigh Burton, Evers and Morgan Larrabee, Greely’s Alexandra Day and Ellie Weickert, NYA’s Scully and Yarmouth’s Cahill and Maddy Wood all qualified for the All-Academic team.

Cahill and Doyle were finalists for the Bob Butler Award, which was won by Selena Lorrey of Traip.

Cahill played for the Class A/B West team at the Maine McDonald’s Senior All-Star Game and had 12 points in a 95-92 loss to the East. Doyle also took part.

Cahill and Falmouth’s Laney Evers qualified for the All-State Academic Team.

Freeport’s Olivia Dimick was the South Region representative at the state foul shooting championships.
