PORTLAND — Cumberland County residents can apply through the city of Portland for home repair and homeownership assistance.

About $460,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is available to county residents, and an additional $650,000 is available for Portland residents.

The HOME program funds roof, window and door replacement, energy audits and code violation corrections. It can also be used to help with down payments and closing costs for first-time home buyers.
