SOUTH PORTLAND — The City Council will meet in a second executive session Monday, June 20, prior to the regularly scheduled meeting, to discuss the process of filling the city manager position.

City Manager Jim Gailey, who announced his resignation earlier this month, has held the position for nearly a decade. At the end of July, Gailey will take over as assistant county manager for Cumberland County.

Gailey interim successor, which many believe will be Assistant City Manager Josh Reny, will also have to be formally approved by the council, Mayor Tom Blake said Wednesday.

The council will also have to determine whether to employ the efforts of an outside organization, such as the Greater Portland Council of Governments, to aid the city in the job search, Blake said.
