YARMOUTH — The Herbie Project will sell green and kiln-dried elm wood from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at J.D. Sullivan & Sons in New Gloucester on Saturday, June 26.

This wood is the least stressed and top quality. The kiln dried wood is $10 per board foot. The wood is from Yarmouth’s 217-year-old American elm tree, fondly known as “Herbie”, formerly New England’s largest American elm tree.

Souvenirs from Herbie will be available at the Yarmouth Clam Festival, July 16-18, in the Chamber of Commerce information booth on Memorial Green and at a final sale and auction at Delorme Map from November 12-13.

Proceeds from wood sales will benefit the Yarmouth Tree Trust, a program to plant new street trees in Yarmouth.

For more information, call J.D. Sullivan & Sons Lumber at 926-4948 or Yarmouth Community Services at 846-2406.
