BAILEY ISLAND — Helen C. Jones, 82, died March 17 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born in South Portland on March 24, 1926, the daughter of Lawrence C. and Mathilda E. (Willig) Jones.
In 1943, she graduated from South Portland High School and attended Shaw Business College in Portland.
She retired in 1990 as an accounting supervisor, after working 46 years with U.S. Fidelity & Guaranty Company.
Her favorite activities included boating and skiing. She was the second women to be appointed a National Ski Patrol Woman in Maine.
She was predeceased by a brother, Philip I. Jones.
Surviving is a brother James C. Jones of Casco, a sister Nathalia M. Powell of Nashua, N.H.; a nephew and a niece; and grand-nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-6 p.m. March 20, Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. March 21 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick.
