SCARBOROUGH — A Zoning Board of Appeals public hearing on a proposed increase in parking near Scarborough Beach State Park was postponed Wednesday due to weather.

The hearing would have taken public comment on a special exception appeal by Black Point Resource Management to create a new 500-spot parking lot near the beach in an area currently zoned R-F, or rural farming.

The plan has been criticized by neighbors who say the parking lot would negatively affect the neighborhood and create traffic problems.

The hearing was not immediately rescheduled. The next regularly scheduled ZBA meeting is Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.
