BATH — Harriett Lewis, 97, of Bath, died April 12.

She was born in Bath on Jan. 5, 1916, the daughter of Robert and Dora Small. Lewis grew up in Bath and graduated from Morse High School.

She married her soul-mate, Orrington H. Lewis, and the couple resided in Bath to raise their family at 189 High St., a family-owned home since the 1850s. Harriett was a homemaker, and her family was the most important thing to her.

Lewis had a passion for making things with her hands. Family meals were always a special occasion because she loved to cook. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting, and there never seemed to be a time that she wasn’t creating something by hand. She will be missed by all those who loved her.

She was predeceased by her husband Orrington, her son Donald Lewis and daughter Dianne Cahill.

She leaves behind her granddaughter, her caregiver and best friend, Elaine “Lanie” Bradley; her daughter, Kathleen Inman and her husband Joe; her great-grandson and caregiver, Jahmaal Bradley; her two dogs, Jadzia and Turbo; and a daughter-in-law, Vivian Lewis. She also leaves behind six other grandchildren, Donna, Linda, Jody, David, Eric and Marlene; and eight other great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked those who wish to make a memorial donation in Lewis’ name to the Coastal Humane Society, 30 Range Road, Brunswick, ME 04011.
