HARPSWELL — The Board of Selectmen put off a decision on whether to implement changes in the town’s EMS system, in favor of further discussion of the recommendations in a workshop later this month.

Some of the suggestions contained in a report generated by town staff have angered the leadership of the town’s three volunteer fire-rescue departments. They include creation of a formal schedule for volunteers, setting up a committee to plan for the future of emergency services, and carving out a greater role for the town in emergency services management.

In a Sept. 4 meeting, selectmen said they need more time to consider the feedback they have received from the departments. A date for the workshop was not set.
