HARPSWELL — Residents can now help the Conservation Commission clean up the town’s beaches in a project similar to the town’s Adopt-A-Road program.

The Adopt-A-Beach program allows people to clean up a designated beach and bring the debris to the transfer station Tuesdays-Saturdays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

In order to participate in the program, interested residents should visit the Conservation Commission’s website and fill out the forms for the beach they wish to manage.

After the commission receives and authorizes the forms, it will charge the sponsor with taking care of their assigned beach for one year. Volunteers will receive an identification slip that allows them to bring beach waste to the transfer station without paying the usual fee.
