HARPSWELL — A local man is being held on $50,000 bail at Cumberland County Jail in Portland after a police investigation alleged he sexually abused a 13-year-old girl over two years, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect’s live-in girlfriend, Holly Colfer, 33, of Harpswell Islands Road, was arrested on Friday on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child, according to police. She was later released that day on $1,000 cash bail.

Amos Johnson, 38, was arrested on Feb. 26 on 32 counts of gross sexual assault after the victim contacted a third party about the abuse, who then informed police.

Johnson remains at Cumberland County Jail as of Tuesday.

The girl is a relative of Colfer’s. She is currently in custody of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
