HARPSWELL — The town’s three fire departments are seeking volunteer emergency drivers.

Volunteers later this month will train in a two-part program to drive an ambulance, paramedic car, and other emergency vehicles used by the Cundy’s Harbor, Harpswell Neck and Orr’s and Bailey Islands fire departments.

An ambulance and a paramedic SUV are dispatched to every call, and drivers are needed to operate the vehicle and assist emergency medical workers with tasks like lifting patients.

The training includes a classroom session and hands-on driving course. Volunteers must be 21 years old and hold a valid Maine drivers license.
