TOPSHAM — Harold R. Carter, Sr., 81, died Feb. 19 at the Marshwoood Center in Lewiston.
On March 8, 1929, he was born in Brunswick, a son of Robert P. and Edith Reaggins Carter and attended local schools.
During the Korean War, he served four years with the U.S. Army and two years with the U.S. Air Force.
For 29 years he worked at Mid Coast Hospital until he retired in 1991.
In 1953 he married Marion Day and raised they two children together.
Surviving are his wife Marion; two children, Harold R. Carter, Jr., and Betty Carter, both of Topsham; and his sister, Josephine Wedge of Berlin, N.H.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
Burial will be at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta.
