TOPSHAM — Harold Douglas “Doug” Crawford Jr., 59, died Dec. 23 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Malden, Mass., on July 4, 1949, the son of Harold D. and Irma A. (Potts) Crawford Sr.
His family moved to Grafton, Vt., where he attended local schools. He later graduated from New Hampshire College.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years and retired in 1998.
After his retirement, he worked at Mt. Ararat High School in the computer lab.
He was an active member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid reader and history buff, and also volunteered at the Topsham Public Library.
He was predeceased by his father in 1998, and his mother in 1989.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Cynthia (Bryant) Crawford of Topsham; two daughters, Jessica Crawford of Brunswick, and Kendra Crawford of Florida; two sisters, Linda Robertson of Cambridgeport, Vt., and Denise Hall of New Bedford, Mass.; a granddaughter, Aidan Crawford Kearns, and a grandson, Evan Kearns, both of Brunswick.
Visiting hours will be Jan. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
A memorial service will be Jan. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Brunswick United Methodist Church, 320 Church Road.
