BATH — Habitat for Humanity/7 Rivers Maine is offering families with a qualifying limited income the chance to button up their homes against the cold and cut their heating fuel expenses.
The organization – with help from the Maine Community Foundation, Davenport Trust, United Way of Mid Coast Maine and local churches – is providing free energy audits, interior storm windows and weatherization to families with a median income of between 25 percent and 80 percent of their community. Residents of Brunswick, Harpswell, and Sagadahoc and Lincoln counties are eligible for the assistance.
Families who own their houses and meet Habitat’s income guidelines can receive the service at no charge. Habitat offers interest-free loans for materials for those who require more extensive repairs and weatherization after the repairs.
