TOPSHAM — After seven years in Bath, Habitat for Humanity / 7 Rivers Maine will celebrate the move to its new Topsham location with a grand opening gala this weekend.

The celebration, which will include food, drinks and deals, will be held at Habitat’s 126 Main St. headquarters Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The organization had been well received while at 108 Centre St. in Bath, which prompted expansion of its merchandising and retail space to further serve the community, Habitat stated in August.

“The goal of the ReStore is to generate revenue toward the mission of providing decent, affordable housing for qualified applicants,” an Oct. 22 Habitat press release read.

“Additionally, the ReStore provides low-cost materials for the community and keeps good materials out of landfills. Such low-cost materials include new and gently used building supplies, furniture and appliances.”

The ReStore hours are Tuesdays through Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The store can be reached  at 504-9340.

“We are very excited about the capabilities of our new store for all customers and donors,” ReStore manager Dave Cross said in the press release. “Our staff is ready to serve our communities with a larger, more open and accessible space.

Habitat’s move to Topsham was in part precipitated by the sale of the building at 108 Centre St. to Mid Coast Hospital of Brunswick for a new primary-care medical facility, according to Habitat.

Its new location brings several advantages: about 33 percent more space, with a larger sales floor to display inventory, along with better parking, improved inventory intake and preparation areas, and a visible location near well-traveled roads.
