FREEPORT — An armed man robbed Norway Savings Bank on Mallett Drive on Monday afternoon, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

No one was hurt during the incident, which took place at 2:48 p.m., Freeport Police Lt. Susan Nourse said Tuesday.

The man entered the bank, showed a handgun to the teller and demanded cash, Nourse said. He then fled up Mallett Drive, in the direction of Interstate 295.

The bank closed following the incident while Freeport and Brunswick police processed the scene. Freeport’s police dog turned up nothing during a search.

The robbery follows an armed robbery only blocks away at KeyBank on July 17.

On July 24, police arrested 25-year-old Jimmy Odong of Portland and charged him with the KeyBank robbery, as well as with robbery in connection with the carjacking of a woman’s vehicle in Portland, also on July 17.

Odong allegedly took $11,259 from KeyBank that day. He faces state and federal charges.
