BRUNSWICK — Gregory J. Sullwold, 63, died February 23 at Parkview Adventist Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 11, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minn., a son of Myron J. and Victoria Kapinos Sullwold. 

When he was 5 years old the family moved to Cresskill, N.J. and he attended local schools.  After graduating from high school in 1964, he attended Penn State University and graduated with a degree in business from Roosevelt University in Chicago.  He attended graduate school at DePaul University.

On Oct. 18, 1969, he married Carla Maria Verdino.

He worked for several non-profit, educational and church organizations.

For nearly 25 years, he worked for the Eastern Territory of the Salvation Army, and was most recently the director of investment relations and an assistant treasurer.

In May 2009, he and his wife moved to Brunswick.
 
His interests included the arts, outdoor activities, and entertaining.
 
He was a board member of the Friends of the Library, and a former Illinois Rotarian.
 
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Carla of Brunswick; two sisters, Candace Cannon of Cresskill, N.J. and Cynthia Lisi and her husband Paul of Fairlawn, N.J.; a brother, Kent Sullwold, and his wife Barbara of Valley Cottage N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
 
Memorial services were held last week.
