PORTLAND — Five city residents were named to national or state committees of the Green Independent Party at the state party convention Aug. 22.

Jacqui Deveneau said Sept. 2 she and Morgen D’Arc will continue on the national panel with one-year terms. Both have been Green Independent Party members for about 15 years, she said.

Mako Bates, who helped write the referendum question for a $15-per-hour minimum wage that is on the Nov. 3 city ballot, was named treasurer of the state Green Independent Party for the next year.

Mayoral candidate Tom MacMillan and Owen Hill were elected at-large members of the state committee. Hill ran unsuccessfully in 2014 against state Sen. Anne Haskell, D-Portland.
