PORTLAND — Redesign of Congress Square Park is expected to get a $30,000 boost from the National Endowment for the Arts.

City spokeswoman Jessica Grondin announced the city, Portland Public Art Committee and the Friends of Congress Square Park are recommended joint recipients of a NEA grant.

The $30,000 is part of $25 million in Art Works grants announced by NEA Chairman Jane Chu.

The Congress Square redesign process is being led by Philadelphia-based WRT, with New York artist Sarah Sze commissioned to create the art. The entire project will also include reconfiguring the intersections of Congress, High and Free streets and new landscaping in the park area next to the Westin Portland Harborview Hotel.
