PORTLAND — Gov. Janet Mills will speak at the 38th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Observance Celebration on Monday, Jan. 21.

The celebration will be held at Holiday Inn by the Bay, 88 Spring St., and begins at 5:30 p.m.

Hosted by the NAACP Portland Chapter, this year’s theme is “The Fierce Urgency of Now: Race, Economic Justice and Political Power.”

The keynote address will be delivered by Naomi Walker of the Economic Policy Institute in Washington, D.C. Walker directs the institute’s Economic Analysis and Research Network.
