PORTLAND — Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul, one of the candidates for the GOP nomination for president, will be campaigning in southern Maine this weekend.
“He is coming,” said Paul Madore, state chairman of the congressman’s campaign. “We’re putting together the itinerary as we speak.”
Paul is scheduled to arrive in Maine sometime Friday, Madore said. The candidate will make appearances Friday and Saturday.
“He’ll be very busy those two days,” Madore said. “You guys will have a hard time keeping up with him.”
The only confirmed appearance is a Saturday event at the University of Southern Maine Gorham campus. Madore said the exact time and place were to be determined.
Maine Republicans will caucus to decide their choice for a presidential candidate from Feb. 4 through 11. Paul also came to Maine during his unsuccessful campaign for the GOP nomination in 2008.
