BATH — The committee searching for a replacement for Patten Free Library Director Anne Phillips named Peter Goodwin the interim director, effective July 13.

Phillips, who has served as director since 2003 and began volunteering at the library in 1979, announced her resignation on June 18.

Goodwin has served as manager of the Sagadahoc History and Genealogy Room at the library since 2002. Highlights of his time there include his organization of the Town History Series, now nearing its sixth season, and two exhibits for the Maine Memory Network.

Search Committee Chairman David Miller lauded Goodwin’s collaborative leadership style, the respect he has earned among the library’s senior staff, and his knowledge of trustee matters gained as the group’s recording secretary.

Phillips, who lives in Woolwich, last week said she has accepted a position as program director for a new non-profit outside of Maine.
