YARMOUTH — Gilberte A. Davis, 94, of Portland, died Jan. 9 at Coastal Manor in Yarmouth.

Born in Brunswick on June 5, 1916, she was the first daughter of Charles J. and Eva Gamache Charron, and attended Brunswick schools.

In 1934 she married John B. Davis.

While her husband served in the U.S. Navy during World War II she worked  at Bath Iron Works.

They moved to Portland in 1955 where she enjoyed gardening and entertaining her neighbors.

She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Portland.

In her later years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Florida, Hawaii, and many trips to Canada.

She was predeceased by her husband John and her sister Nancy Giard.

Survivors include her son, Peter C. Davis and his wife Joyce of Yarmouth; her sister Venise Lewis of Brunswick; two granddaughters, Robyn Davis of Portland and Cheryl Fullerton and her husband Mike of Carrabassett Valley; three great-grandchildren, Rachel and Rebecca Fullerton of Gorham and David Fullerton of Orono; several nieces and nephews and extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 325 Main St., Yarmouth, with a reception will follow in the church hall.
